Story Snippet: Don't Go Into The Jungle...
Everybody knows the rule: “Don’t ever go into the jungle, especially not at night.” At night is when the nocturnal hunters have the upper hand: the dark. The dark is a cloak that all creatures will wear, some for protection, and some for cover as they stalk their prey. The rule is there to keep everyone, every human, young and old, from becoming the prey.It never failed to work, unless, of course, you disobeyed it. Nobody has ever disobeyed it and lived to tell the tale. Or so they say. I know a few exceptions.

Story Snippet: Manticore Fight
“This is just terrific.” Ever since the sun had set, all sorts of things were after me. I glanced around, trying to find my sword. The creature let out a roar and charged. I saw a glint of reflected moonlight and dove for it. Luckily, it was my sword. I snatched it up and skidded to a halt. What had found me was called a manticore. It has the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion, the face of a man, and was about the size of a small barn. Mother Wolf's Song--A Place In My Den
Lean in closer,
My pup, my dear.
I must whisper something in your ear:
A place will always be for you here.
Come sun or snow,
This den will stand.
Others have come seeking
A helping paw or helping hand.
Feathers or scales
Or soft fur or coarse hair,
Auntie or Sister or Mother they’ve called me
For they always knew I was there.
So remember, my cub,
When the Winter storms rage
Or you ever feel trapped
Like a bird in a cage:
Remember your place
In your Mother Wolf’s heart.
For I love every creature
Whoever they are.

The red she-wolf stared down at the pathetic creature before her. “Please, Your Excellency, this is all I have!” The brown rabbit whimpered and pushed the wild onion towards her with his nose. The colossal black bear sitting next to the she-wolf on a lower rock stepped down from his pedestal and inspected the onion. He gazed up at her and shook his head. The she-wolf snorted.
“I will not except this puny offering,” she said coldl
